Paweł Mocek melancholic tattoos (has been tattooing ) since the beginning of 2021. I am a painter by education — I graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. Painting itself helped me with tattooing, of course, but the main academic tool I currently use is drawing. The texture of which I try to transfer to the skin. This is because my paintings are rather a break from work and are very different from the tattoos I create.
I took up tattooing quite late, after I turned thirty. However, I have been interested in it since my studies. Treating tattooing as a form of art more open to people. While in painting I was more focused on myself. And it was this desire to come out with my creativity that influenced the fact that I decided to take a risk with a tattoo.
I create mainly (actually exclusively) black tattoos with a melancholic character. Some might say that I do dotwork/graphic tattoos, but it is difficult for me to clearly call them. The most important thing for me in my work is that it feels like a drawing. Not in a sketchy way. In my designs I love to use old photos, strange diagrams and dried flowers with some abstract elements. I do almost all of my designs by hand.
Besides tattooing and painting I also love gardening and my bonsai trees, SF books and model building.
